Every true Christian will confess the truth. This is not merely their calling by god but also the “impulse of their hearts”! Herman Bavinck has written wondrously about the biblical truth and doctrines – not merely to be admired intellectually but to be confessed publicly! Confession is not a burden to be imposed but a joyous song of praise to be raised unto our great God and Saviour. Every confesses something – it is not a choice not to confess – but to be found faithful and eager in our confession of the Triune God and to be assertive of His supremacy is the high calling of the ordinary believer. It is not about us – but about the living God Who gives to every person life, breath, and all things.
Therefore, the truth laid down in Scripture leads, on its own accord, everyone who believes and embraces it to confession. Confession is the calling of all believers and also the impulse of their hearts. Whoever truly believes, with all his heart and soul cannot do otherwise but confess (that is, bear witness to) the truth that has set him free and the hope of this truth that has been planted in his heart (Matt. 10:32; Rom. 10:9-10; 2 Cor. 4:13; 1 Peter 3:15; 1 John 4:2-3). Every believer and every congregation therefore confess, as truly as the testimony of the Holy Spirit testifies, that God’s word is the truth.
Go boldly confess Christ before people. He is Worthy!
