But, on the contrary, woe to them who, under the banner of the “prince of this world,” oppose the interests of the kingdom of heaven, while at the same time, though unconsciously and against their will, they are compelled to do it service. These will one day find associating itself with the positive punishment inflicted upon them, the dejecting and painful consciousness that their whole life has been like a wave of the sea, which has in vain tried and expended its might against an immovable rock. The wonderful truth of God’s sovereignty assures that He will succeed in rendering the wicked deeds of sinful men turned contrary to their evil designs and accomplish His will and further His ultimate cause.  At the same time, psychologically the impress of waste and emptiness of life will sear the conscience and further validate the final judgment of the righteous God.  Lord, have mercy upon us!
